Eli Kosiba has been recognized as the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) National Athlete of the Week for the third time in his collegiate career. The announcement was made by the national office on Monday evening.

Kosiba's performance in the high jump, where he tied a national record with a height of 2.30 meters (7-6.5), earned him this accolade. The graduate student began his competition on Friday with an initial jump of 1.84 meters (6-0.5). Over five attempts, he reached a height of 2.24 meters (7-4.5), surpassing his previous personal best of 2.23 meters (7-3.8).

Opting to skip the 2.27-meter mark (7-5.4), Kosiba proceeded directly to attempt 2.30 meters (7-6.5). Encouraged by the crowd and after taking some deep breaths, he successfully cleared this NCAA Division II indoor high jump record on his second try, achieving it in just eight attempts overall.

This achievement marks Kosiba's third recognition as USTFCCCA National Athlete of the Week during an indoor track & field season, having previously received this honor on January 24, 2023, and February 20, 2024.
