Grand Valley State University (GVSU) demonstrated strong performances at the Bob Eubanks Open, securing 16 individual victories and achieving 20 podium finishes. The Lakers also met or exceeded 23 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Provisional Standards.
In the men's high jump, Marcus Gelpi led with a personal-best of 2.21m, followed by Jonathan "JayJay" Rankins-James and Jaivon Harrison, both clearing 2.15m. Braden Prielipp and Andrew Kraft also recorded personal bests. On the women's side, Imogene Brumbaugh tied for first with a height of 1.65m.
Luke Jelderks achieved a personal-best in the men's long jump with a distance of 7.38m, placing him second in GVSU's All-Time Indoor Record Book. Alaina Diaz won gold in the women's long jump with a jump of 5.86m.
Nolyn Johnson III was victorious in the men's triple jump with a personal-best distance of 14.04m.
Wyatt Alwine led the men's pole vault by clearing 5.11m, earning him fifth place in GVSU's record book. Brooke Bowers tied for first in the women's pole vault with a height of 4.05m.
Myles Kerner excelled in both weight throw and shot put events for men, achieving distances that surpassed NCAA DII standards. Erika Beistle claimed first place in women's shot put with a throw of 15.78m.
In sprints and hurdles, Myles Rhodes recorded personal bests in both the preliminaries and finals of the men's 60m dash while Joshua Hurt won the men's 60m hurdles final.
The Laker women dominated the mile event as Cara Newman finished first at 4:57:30 among six top-12 finishes for GVSU competitors.
GVSU will host their next meet at Kelly Family Sports Center on January 24 during the Bill Clinger Classic.
