The trial of Dominique Asher Hawkins commenced in the 20th Circuit Court earlier this week. On Thursday afternoon, the jury delivered a guilty verdict for Hawkins on charges of Criminal Sexual Conduct 1st degree, Home Invasion 1st degree, and Resisting and Obstructing an officer. Sentencing is set for March 24.

Hawkins was previously arraigned in the 58th District Court on charges including Criminal Sexual Conduct 2nd degree, Home Invasion 1st degree, and Resisting and Obstructing an Officer. His bond was established at $250,000 cash or surety.

The case originated from an incident reported on April 16, 2024. At approximately 2:20 a.m., a resident of Holland contacted emergency services after hearing an intruder inside her home located on West 24th Street near Michigan Avenue. Responding officers observed a male suspect within the residence who fled upon being spotted. The suspect was apprehended following a brief foot chase.

The victim indicated that the intruder attempted to sexually assault her before his arrest. Initially, authorities withheld the suspect's name pending arraignment.
