Grand Valley State University (GVSU) is set to host the annual Bill Clinger Classic on Friday, January 24, at the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale, Michigan. The indoor track and field event will begin at 1 p.m. EST with both field and running events scheduled.

The Bill Clinger Classic follows the Bob Eubanks Open, where GVSU athletes excelled by winning 16 individual events and achieving nearly 60 personal bests. Several athletes also met or exceeded NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Provisional Standards.

In throws, Grand Valley's team will include Myles Kerner and Erika Beistle, last week's champions in shot put. James MacKey Jr. leads the men's weight throw squad with a mark of 20.97m (68-9.75). Events for women's weight throw start at 1 p.m., followed by men's competitions.

Twelve athletes from GVSU will participate in pole vaulting events. Notable performances from Wyatt Alwine and Brooke Bowers last week secured them spots in GVSU's Top 10 All-Time Indoor Record Book.

The jumps section will feature Eli Kosiba and Kaylee Diamond competing in high jump after a month-long break from competition. Men's high jump, along with long jumps for both men and women, are scheduled to begin at 1 p.m.

GVSU's sprints and hurdles teams aim for strong performances in the 60m hurdles, 60m dash, 200m, and 400m events starting at 1 p.m., with finals beginning around 2:50 p.m.

Cara Newman highlighted mid-distance/distance events last week with a personal-best time of 4:57.30 in the mile run. Colin Vanderschaaf also claimed victory in his event. Various races including the mile invite are planned throughout Friday afternoon.

Relay squads consist of three men's teams and two women's teams competing in the 4x400m relay starting around 5:10 p.m.

Tickets for the event can be purchased online; however, admission is free for Grand Valley State students with a valid ID card. Live results will be available through Fairchild Sports Timing, while FloTrack offers multi-event viewing options for fans unable to attend in person.

Fans are encouraged to follow @GVSUXCTF on Instagram and X for updates during the meet.
