Grand Valley State University's track and field teams have achieved a clean sweep of the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Track & Field Athlete of the Week awards for the week of January 27. The announcement was made by the GLIAC following their performances at the GVSU Bill Clinger Classic held over the weekend.
Erika Beistle, specializing in throws, received the GLIAC Field Athlete of the Week honor for her shot put performance. On her second attempt, she achieved a throw of 17.20 meters, surpassing her personal best and setting a new Grand Valley indoor record. Her performance earned her first place in the women's shot put at the meet.
Jaivon Harrison was named GLIAC Indoor Field Athlete of the Week for his high jump achievements. After returning from an early season injury, Harrison cleared 2.20 meters on his second attempt during his second appearance this season.
Natalie Graber was recognized as Indoor Track Athlete of the Week by GLIAC for her performance in the women's mile event. She finished second with a time of 4:44.07, marking a season-best and narrowly missing first place by less than 0.30 seconds.
Caleb Futter earned his ninth GLIAC Indoor Track Athlete of the Week award after competing in both individual and relay events at the Bill Clinger Classic. He secured first place in his heat and overall in the 800 meters with a personal best time that placed him fourth in Grand Valley's All-Time Indoor Record Book.
