Grand Valley State University's track and field teams are preparing to host the annual Mike Lints Alumni Meet at the Kelly Family Sports Center in Allendale, Michigan. The event is scheduled for Saturday, February 8, with both track and field competitions commencing at 1 p.m.
The meet will feature current student-athletes alongside several alumni from the university's track and field program. The throws events will start the day, with notable athletes such as Erika Beistle and Myles Kerner participating in shot put. In weight throw, competitors include Alaina Omonode and James MacKey Jr.
Pole vault events will see participation from Colton Emeott and Camryn Battjes among others for the men's team, while Brooke Bowers and Ava Collier represent the women's squad. High jump participants include Jonathan Rankins-James for men, while Alexis Weber leads the women’s team.
The long jump event features athletes like Kaitlyn Molnar and Luke Jelderks, with Nolyn Johnson III competing in triple jump. Relay races begin with the Distance Medley Relay (DMR) followed by a series of other relays including the 1600m relay where Grand Valley will field three squads.
Mid-distance and distance races cover events like the 800m, 1 mile, and 3000m. Notable competitors include Tanner Guczwa in the 800m and Maggie O'Malley in the mile race. Madelyn Frens makes her season debut in the women's 3000m.
Sprints and hurdles commence with preliminary rounds for the 60m dash and hurdles, followed by finals later in the afternoon. Taylor Kyle is set to compete in sprints while Brooke Barkocy participates in hurdles.
