Grand Valley State University's track and field teams wrapped up the Mike Lints Alumni Meet with notable performances, securing 20 individual event victories and achieving 21 NCAA Championship-qualifying marks.
In the men's shot put invite, Myles Kerner led with a throw of 19.33m (63-5). The women's shot put saw Erika Beistle take the lead with a 17.08m (56-0.5) throw, followed by Mackenzie Bohrer and Maggie Stevenson, both qualifying for the National Championships.
The weight throw events were marked by strong performances from James MacKey Jr., who won the men's invite with a throw of 20.19m (66-3), and Shelby Ulven and Alaina Omonode in the women's competition, finishing second and third respectively.
Colton Emeott achieved a personal best in the men's pole vault, winning with a height of 5.01m (16-5.25). Freshman Brooke Bowers excelled in the women's pole vault, breaking her personal record again with a height of 4.15m (13-7.25).
In high jump events, Jonathan Rankins-James won for the men at 2.20m (7-2.5), while Heidi Newhouse took first place for women with a personal-best clearance of 1.64m (5-4.5).
Luke Jelderks shone in the men's long jump, setting another personal best at 7.41m (24-3.75). In relays, Squad A comprising Zach Pray, Vincent Giuliano, Michael McNeil, and Myles Rhodes moved up to fourth-fastest in program history with their performance.
The mid-distance events highlighted Lilly Alberts' debut win in the women's 800m at an NCAA Championship-qualifying time of 2:11.64, etching her name into GVSU's record books as tenth fastest in program history.
Sprints saw Taylor Kyle winning the women's 60m dash at 7.61 seconds and Vincent Giuliano claiming victory in the men's 200m at 21.67 seconds.
GVSU's track and field team is set to compete again soon during the two-day Big Meet starting on Friday.
