Detectives from the Holland Department of Public Safety (HDPS) have been actively investigating a case determined to be a homicide, following an incident at the Bay Pointe Apartment Complex. The Ottawa County Prosecutor's Office has authorized a warrant for open murder as well as resisting and obstructing an officer.

Early this morning, HDPS officers responded to a domestic incident at 791 E 16th St. Upon arrival, they encountered a female subject armed with a knife. After issuing multiple verbal commands, officers deployed a Taser and successfully took the 39-year-old woman into custody.

Inside the apartment, officers discovered the body of a 17-year-old male. The individuals involved are mother and son who lived together in the apartment. Due to the suspicious nature of the situation, detectives were called in to investigate further. An autopsy will be conducted soon.

Names of those involved are being withheld pending family notification and ongoing investigation. Additional information will be released once available and after autopsy results are obtained.

Assistance at the scene was provided by the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office, Holland DPS Fire Services, AMR, and the HDPS Victim Services Unit.
