Grand Valley State University's men's and women's track and field teams achieved notable success at the 2025 GLIAC Indoor Championships held in University Center, Michigan. The men's team secured their 24th title, while the women's team claimed their 26th championship, setting a record as the most successful program in both GLIAC and Grand Valley State history. Both teams accumulated 256 points over two days of competition.
Key individual honors were awarded to several athletes from Grand Valley. Myles Rhodes and Natalie Graber were recognized as the men's and women's track athletes of the meet, respectively. Myles Kerner received the title of men's field athlete of the meet, while Addison Washler was named women's freshman track athlete of the meet. Additionally, both coaching staffs earned accolades as coaching staff of the year.
The event saw impressive performances across various disciplines. In men's heptathlon events, Mason Floria competed in 60m hurdles, pole vault, and 1000m. In high jump competitions, Kaylee Diamond set a new GVSU program record with a jump of 1.80m (5-7.5), securing gold for the women’s team. On the men’s side, Braden Prielipp placed third with a clearance of 2.04m (6-8.25).
In shot put events, Erika Beistle defended her GLIAC Champion title with a throw of 16.95m (55-7.25), leading a podium sweep for GVSU women. For men’s shot put, Myles Kerner took first place with a personal-best throw of 19.72m (64-8.25).
Running events included strong performances in mile races where Natalie Graber finished first for women at 4:47.51 and Patrick Lyell led for men at 4:04.72 alongside Báhozhóni Church who finished closely behind.
The Lakers will next compete at the NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships from March 13 to March 15 in Indianapolis.
