Jovan Gill named GLIAC player of the week after strong performance

Grand Valley State University's junior first baseman, Jovan Gill, has been honored as the GLIAC Baseball Player of the Week. This recognition was announced by the GLIAC office following a strong performance from Gill. He contributed significantly to his team's success, with the Lakers securing a 5-1 record and sweeping a four-game series against Indianapolis, ranked fifth.

Gill's impressive statistics for the week included a batting average of .450, driving in 14 runs and scoring 11 times himself. His contributions also included three home runs, eight walks (three intentional), and one double. In three different games, he drove in four runs each time and managed five runs in another game where he went 2-for-4 with four RBIs. His on-base percentage stood at .589, with a slugging percentage of .897 and an OPS of 1.486.

For the season so far, Gill is hitting .389 with 15 RBIs and 14 runs scored, maintaining an OPS of 1.238.

The Grand Valley State team will proceed with their season at the Russ Matt Invitational held at Northeast Regional Park in Davenport, Florida. They are set to play six games there starting Wednesday against Ashland at noon.
