GVSU falls to Minnesota State after defensive struggles

Grand Valley State University (GVSU) faced a 4-1 defeat against Minnesota State in a baseball match held at Paul Thomas Park, Leesburg, Florida. This game marked the end of GVSU's six-game series in Florida, concluding with a 4-2 record. The team is set to host Gannon for a four-game series from March 14-16 in Allendale, Michigan.

The Lakers committed five errors and issued seven walks during the game, contributing to all four runs scored by Minnesota State. Additionally, GVSU hit into two inning-ending double plays.

GVSU managed to score in the fourth inning when shortstop Evan Morrison and left fielder Ryan Dykstra began with singles. They advanced on a wild pitch, and designated hitter Jovan Gill brought Morrison home with a sacrifice fly to center field.

Minnesota State capitalized on unearned runs across the second, third, and fifth innings.

Pitcher Collin Bradley took the loss for GVSU, allowing four unearned runs on five hits while striking out five batters. Freshman Sebastian Talaga pitched three scoreless innings. In terms of batting performance, Morrison went 2-for-3 with a run scored; Dykstra, first baseman Jonas Gulbrandsen, catcher Brendan Guciardo, third baseman Caleb Estrada, and right fielder Ryan Stimac each secured one hit.
