Angela Lound named Firefighter of the Year by Holland Public Safety

Firefighter and Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) Angela Lound has been named the 2025 Firefighter of the Year by the Holland Department of Public Safety. This recognition was based on nominations from her colleagues who highlighted her alignment with the department's core values of compassion, respect, integrity, professionalism, and dedication.

Since joining the department in 2020, Lound has consistently showcased the department's values through various actions. She is committed to professionalism, evident in her continuous pursuit of training and personal development. Her leadership skills and project management abilities have been critical to the community's Heart Safe Holland Initiative. As the department's representative, she collaborated with community members and agencies, making Holland one of the ten communities in the U.S. to earn the "Heart Safe Community" designation from the Citizen CPR Foundation. Lound is also noted for her compassion towards both community members and her colleagues.

Angela Lound is a graduate of West Ottawa High School and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in chemical engineering and a Master of Science degree in kinesiology from Michigan State University. Her credentials also include Michigan Firefighter I&II certifications, EMT-Basic certification, and the MFFTC Instructor I qualification.

Apart from her current role, Lound has a strong background in serving the Holland community. She has been a Reserve Officer with the Holland Police Department and has worked for the Holland Board of Public Works.
