Erika Beistle has been named the NCAA Division II Women's National Athlete of the Week. The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) announced the honor this afternoon, following Beistle's remarkable performance at the GVSU Early Meet.

Beistle, a senior, achieved a discus throw of 66.63 meters (218 feet, 7 inches) on her third attempt. This throw surpassed her previous personal best of 62.50 meters, a record she set during the 2024 United States Olympic Trials at Grand Valley.

Beistle's recent throw not only broke her school's record but also surpassed the NCAA Division II record of 61.35 meters (201 feet, 4 inches) held since 2019. Her achievement places her fourth in NCAA history across all divisions.

Highlighting her global impact, Beistle's throw is currently the world's second-best, just behind Valarie Allman's 66.72-meter throw.
