Caden Thelen of Grand Valley State is named GLIAC Player of the Week

Grand Valley State University freshman center fielder Caden Thelen has been recognized by the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) as the Player of the Week. During the week, Thelen achieved a batting average of .526, hitting 10 for 19. His performance included seven runs batted in, 18 total bases, and five times crossing home plate. Thelen also demonstrated strong base-running skills with three successful steals and managed to record five extra base hits.

Thelen's consistent contributions were pivotal, as the Lakers emerged victorious in all five games they played within the week. Notably, in game three against Roosevelt, he went 3-for-4, hitting a double, a triple, and driving in four runs. Since joining the lineup, Thelen has maintained an impressive .441 batting average, completing three doubles and three triples.

The metrics reflecting his performance for the week include a slugging percentage of .947, an on-base percentage of .550, and an overall on-base plus slugging (OPS) of 1.497. Acknowledging these accomplishments, GLIAC announced his selection for the weekly honor, adding that he had an instrumental role in the team's successful run. Thelen's outstanding performance on the field has been a significant factor in the #11 ranked Lakers' recent success.
