The Grand Valley State University baseball team secured a win against Northwood on April 29, 2025, in Allendale. This victory improved the Lakers' season record to 36-10. The team scored nine runs from 15 hits, while Northwood managed one run off seven hits.

Evan Morrison, Caleb Estrada, Brendan Guciardo, Ayden VanEnkevort, and Jovan Gill made significant contributions to GVSU's offensive efforts. Morrison was notable with a 3-4 performance at the plate, which included a double, two runs scored, and an RBI. Estrada also hit 3-4, driving in two runs and scoring one himself. Guciardo mirrored the 3-4 performance with one run, while VanEnkevort and Gill added crucial hits and runs for the team.

The Lakers quickly took the lead, scoring twice in the first inning. Morrison led off with a single and was brought home by a double from Gill. Additionally, Jonas Gulbrandsen contributed with an RBI groundout. The third inning saw GVSU scoring four more runs, with efforts featuring Ryan Simac's walk with the bases loaded and Estrada's single up the middle, which brought in two runs.

Northwood's sole run came in the fourth inning on an RBI double. GVSU responded in the seventh inning with a sacrifice fly, followed by two more runs in the eighth, when Ryan Dykstra singled to score Estrada, and Gill hit a sacrifice fly.

The Lakers' pitching staff showed strength, beginning with Gill, who started the game and pitched four innings, allowing one run and two hits with one strikeout. Zach Warren relieved him, earning the win by pitching 2.1 innings without giving up runs, with two strikeouts. Will Goebel secured his fifth save by finishing the game, allowing no runs with one strikeout.

GVSU is set to conclude the regular season with a series against Upper Iowa in Peru, Illinois, starting May 1.
