Jonas Gulbrandsen named GLIAC Player of the Week after stellar performance

Grand Valley State University's senior baseball player, Jonas Gulbrandsen, has been recognized as the GLIAC Player of the Week. The announcement came from the league office following an impressive performance by Gulbrandsen over the past week.

Gulbrandsen achieved a batting average of .529, going 9-for-17 with four doubles, two home runs, and eight RBIs. His efforts contributed to the Lakers' 4-0 record for the week, extending their winning streak to ten consecutive games. In a standout performance against Upper Iowa on Thursday, Gulbrandsen hit two home runs and followed up with six consecutive hits in Friday's doubleheader.

Over the course of the week, he recorded a slugging percentage of 1.118, an on-base percentage of .579, and an OPS of 1.697. During Friday's doubleheader alone, he went 7-for-9 with four doubles and five RBIs.

Gulbrandsen's achievements this season include hitting 13 home runs, ranking him fifth for single-season home runs at Grand Valley State. Additionally, his career total of 26 home runs ties him for fifth place in school history.

The Lakers are currently ranked eighth nationally with a record of 39-10 and hold second place in the NCAA Division II Midwest Regional Rankings. They are set to face Saginaw Valley State in the first round of the GLIAC Tournament on Thursday at Jackson Field in Lansing, Michigan.
