Rep. Bill Huizenga, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Michigan's 4th district, shared his views on recent political developments through a series of tweets. His comments addressed international sanctions, digital asset regulation, and bipartisan cooperation.
On May 5, 2025, Huizenga expressed approval of the U.S. Treasury's decision to sanction the KNA in Burma. He stated: "I am glad to see @SecScottBessent & @USTreasury sanction the KNA in Burma. This junta-aligned militia operates illicit scam centers in Burma and facilitates human trafficking across the region." He further encouraged continued efforts by the Trump Administration to hold accountable those aligned with the Burmese junta.
The following day, May 6, 2025, Huizenga highlighted America's potential leadership role in digital assets and noted an opportunity for bipartisan collaboration that was missed when "Ranking Member Maxine Waters walked away" during a meeting involving @financialcmte and @HouseAgGOP.
Later that day, he emphasized progress made towards establishing a regulatory framework for digital assets after a joint hearing turned roundtable discussion led by Chair Rep. French Hill. He tweeted: "One of the goals for today’s joint hearing turned roundtable between @financialcmte and @houseagGOP was to discuss ways in which a durable regulatory framework can provide lasting clarity for the digital asset ecosystem."
Bill Huizenga has served as a representative since replacing Pete Hoekstra in 2011 and previously served in Michigan's House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009.
