The Grand Valley State men's golf team secured a second-place finish at the Copperhead Championship in Palm Harbor, Florida. The tournament concluded with West Florida winning the team title, finishing 11 strokes under par. Grand Valley State improved its standing on the final day by shooting two under par, moving up to second place and ending the event at even par.

Lee University finished third at two over par, while Wingate and Nova Southeastern rounded out the top five with scores of nine over and 18 over, respectively.

Individually, Bryce Wheeler of Grand Valley State tied for second place after shooting a final round of 68, which put him at four under par for the tournament. Andrew Gwilliams also performed well, making two birdies during his round of 74 and tying for seventh place at even par.

Other notable performances from the Lakers included Maverick Conaway and Manuel Cue Vargas, who both tied for 21st place at four over par. Conaway's final round featured a score of 69 with two birdies and an eagle, while Cue Vargas shot an even-par 71 with two birdies. Charlie Cooley finished in a tie for 34th after recording a final round of 74 and one birdie.

The team will conclude its fall schedule next week when it travels to Farmington, Pennsylvania to compete in the Nemacolin Intercollegiate.
