He congratulated President Trump and Secretary Rubio for their efforts in negotiating a ceasefire between India and Pakistan. In another tweet dated May 12, 2025, Huizenga acknowledged positive developments stemming from negotiations influenced by key U.S. officials. He thanked Secretary Scott Bessent and President Biden for facilitating these discussions: "This is very positive news! Thanks @SecScottBessent and at @POTUS for forcing this negotiation to happen!"

Further expanding on these events on May 12, 2025, Huizenga commended Secretary Scott Bessent for effectively communicating the importance of ongoing talks during an appearance on CNBC's Squawk Box. He highlighted how these negotiations are crucial for pausing additional tariffs affecting the U.S.: "Great job @SecScottBessent on @SquawkCNBC explaining how important these talks and the pause of additional tariffs are for the US." Huizenga emphasized moving forward with the "Geneva Protocol" as part of continued diplomatic efforts.

Bill Huizenga has been a member of Congress since replacing Pete Hoekstra in 2011 after serving in Michigan’s House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009. Born in Zeeland, Michigan in 1969, he graduated from Calvin College with a BA in 1991.
