Grand Valley State University (GVSU) baseball team has been selected as the #2 seed in the NCAA Division II Midwest Region. The team will host a four-team, double-elimination regional tournament beginning Thursday at the Laker Baseball field in Allendale, Michigan. GVSU, with a record of 41-12, will face #7 seed Missouri S&T, which holds a record of 32-23. In another match-up, #3 seeded Lewis (36-16) will play against #6 seeded Northwood (35-19).
This marks GVSU's second consecutive appearance in the NCAA postseason under the guidance of head coach Jordan Keur, who is in his second year leading the team. Overall, this is GVSU's 19th appearance in the NCAA DII Tournament and their fourth time hosting such an event.
Previously, GVSU hosted two four-team regionals in Allendale during 2003 and 2006 and also hosted a six-team regional in Normal, Illinois. Historically, the Lakers have achieved a 46-39 record in NCAA postseason play and boast a 37-28 record specifically within regional action along with six regional titles.
