Four GVSU baseball players earn academic all-district honors

The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) baseball team has achieved significant recognition with four players named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Team. The honored athletes include senior pitcher Jayden Dentler, junior first baseman Jovan Gill, junior shortstop Evan Morrison, and junior second baseman Ayden VanEnkevort. These players have now advanced to the national ballot for further consideration.

Jayden Dentler completed his 2025 season with a record of 12-0 and an earned run average of 2.73 over 14 starts. His performance included tying the GVSU program record for single-season wins and ranking second nationally in victories. Dentler pitched 89 innings, delivered three complete games, and achieved 69 strikeouts during his collegiate career, concluding with a 36-9 record.

Evan Morrison was a consistent presence at shortstop throughout all 57 games of the season. He hit .341 with a total of 76 hits, including 17 doubles and three home runs. Morrison led the GLIAC in runs scored and set a new GVSU single-season record with 73 runs. He recorded multiple hits in 22 games and had a hitting streak spanning 19 games.

Jovan Gill contributed significantly by starting in 50 games and hitting .317. He accumulated 59 hits along with scoring 45 runs and hitting eleven home runs. Gill shared the GLIAC lead in RBIs with a total of 62 while maintaining multi-hit performances in several games.

Ayden VanEnkevort showcased versatility by playing both second base and center field across his 54 starts. He ended the season batting .328 with notable contributions including stealing thirteen bases and achieving twenty multi-hit games.

Under head coach Jordan Keur's leadership in his second year, GVSU finished their season with an impressive record of 43-14. The team also hosted an NCAA DII Regional Tournament for the first time since their last hosting opportunity back in 2006.
