The Mackinac Center for Public Policy has announced the sad news of the passing of Peter Secchia, who served Michigan and the United States with many decades of dedicated service.
"We are blessed to have known him as a good friend and supporter since the early 1990s," the statement reads. "He was also a member of the Mackinac Center’s board of advisors."
“Peter advanced the best principles of America with wisdom, wit and signature vigor," said Mackinac Center President Joseph Lehman in a press release. "May God bless his memory and his family.”

The MLive obituary described Secchia as the ideal political leader.
"Ambassador Peter F. Secchia, distinguished businessman, community and political leader, philanthropist -- and much more -- passed away on October 21, 2020," the obituary reads. "He was 83. Peter was a father, husband, friend, proud Italian and self-made businessman who threw himself fully into everything he did -- into every detail of every endeavor. He was legendary for making things happen and for his creative, hard driving, and, yes, candid ways."
