The Michigan bar exam -- scheduled to take place Tuesday, Feb. 23, and Wednesday, Feb. 24 -- will be administered remotely due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
“Individuals who need to access a quiet space or reliable internet should contact their law schools to determine what arrangements may be available with appropriate measures to protect their health,” a Michigan Courts News Release said.
The Michigan Supreme Court, in collaboration with the Michigan Board of Law Examiners (BLE), decided to make the February 2021 bar exam virtual, based on a variety of factors, including rising cases of the coronavirus across the nation, state restrictions on indoor gatherings and BLE’s software provider confirming its ability to conduct an online exam.
Students who qualify for accommodations under the Americans with Disabilities Act will be allowed to take the test in person.
The Michigan bar exam will be administered over the traditional two-day format and contain 200 multiple choice questions and 15 essays. The test had been previously given in July 2020 in a similar online format.
