Grand Haven Department of Public Safety issued the following announcement on Oct 28.
PROJECT TRAFFIC ADVISORY, US-31/M-104
The bridge rehabilitation work on the US-31 Bascule Bridge over Grand River and 5 other structures nearby on US-31/M-104 is in fall construction in the Cities of Grand Haven and Ferrysburg and Village of Spring Lake.
Bridge deck construction on M-104 has been the focus over the last few weeks with work nearing completion, as well as expansion joint replacement on the US-31 bascule bridge.
This coming Sunday traffic change is a result of steel grid deck replacement and full structural coating beginning on the US-31 bascule bridge. Work will also be beginning at the abutments of the US-31 bridge over the south channel. The completed work will open the pedestrian/bike path on M-104 over the Spring Lake Channel and US-31 over the Grand River beginning 11/3/21.
The information below is the anticipated traffic changes while traveling within the construction influence area of the Bridge Rehabilitation work.
NORTHBOUND US-31
•NB US-31 will be reduced to one lane of travel shifted onto SB US-31 from Jackson Street to Third Street.
•Access to M-104 exit ramp will be closed. A detour route will be trail blazed rerouting traffic to Van Wagoner Street interchange.
•Access to Third Street exit ramp will be closed. A detour route will be trail blazed rerouting traffic to Van Wagoner Street interchange.
•Access to and from Harbor Island Drive will be closed.
•Access to and from Adams Street will be closed.
•Access to Jackson Street will remain open.
•Left turn onto Pennoyer Ave. will be closed.
SOUTHBOUND US-31
•SB US-31 will be reduced to one lane of travel from Third Street to M-104.
•Access to M-104 will remain open. Ramp to EB M-104 lane shifted onto WB M-104.
•Access to Harbor Island Drive will remain open.
•Access to Adams Street will remain open.
•Access to Jackson Street will remain open.
