RSV is a respiratory virus that can cause some children

Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) is a respiratory virus that can cause some children to become very sick and have trouble breathing.

If you are around an infant or young child (especially those who are very young, born prematurely, have chronic lung or heart disease, or a weakened immune system) take extra care to protect them from RSV:

- Cover your coughs and sneezes

- Keep your hands off your face

- Avoid close contact with people who are sick

- Stay home when you are sick

- Clean and disinfect surfaces

- Wash your hands often
