GVSU men's golf trails by one stroke after first day at regionals

The GVSU men's golf team concluded the first day of regional play in Edmond, Oklahoma, in third place, trailing the leaders by a single stroke. Harding and Missouri S&T share the lead after both teams shot a 276 (-4) in the opening round. GVSU follows closely with a score of 277 (-3). Ferris State holds fourth place at one under par with a score of 279, while Henderson State is fifth with an even-par score of 280.

Manuel Cue Vargas from GVSU is tied for the individual lead after achieving six birdies to finish his round at 65 (-5). Drew Coble contributed to the team's efforts with two birdies, finishing his round at 69 (-1), placing him in a tie for 19th. Nick Krueger completed his round at an even-par 70, including three birdies, tying him for 23rd place. Andrew Gwilliams finished his round with a score of 73 (+3) and one birdie, tying him for 57th position. Bryce Wheeler ended his round at six over par with a score of 76 and one birdie, placing him in a tie for 89th.

The Lakers are set to begin their second day early as they are scheduled to tee off as the opening group at 7:30 am CST.
