The GVSU men's golf team has maintained a strong position at the NCAA Super Regionals, holding second place after the second day of competition. The Lakers are closely trailing the leaders as they prepare for the final round.
Harding University leads with a score of nine under par, following their impressive round of 275. GVSU is just two strokes behind at seven under, having carded a second-round score of 276. Central Oklahoma made significant progress, moving up three spots to secure third place at three under par. Ferris State, Missouri S&T, and Henderson State are tied for fourth place, each sitting at one under par.
GVSU's Manuel Cue Vargas delivered a steady performance with a second round of 70 (E), featuring three birdies. He is currently tied for second place at five under par. Drew Coble also performed well, tying for seventh with a score of -3 after his round of 68 (-2), which included two birdies. Nick Krueger recorded seven birdies in his round of 69 (-1), finishing the day tied for 17th at one under par. Bryce Wheeler and Andrew Gwilliams are both tied for 64th place at five over par; Wheeler achieved three birdies in his round of 69 (-1), while Gwilliams had one birdie and shot a 72 (+2).
