Grand Valley State University has appointed Mike Korman as the new assistant coach for its women's soccer team. Head coach Katie Hultin expressed her enthusiasm about the addition, stating, "We are so excited to have Mike join the staff. Mike has a lot of experience and will make a huge impact on our student athletes and staff."
Korman joins Grand Valley State after five seasons at Bemidji State University, where he played a significant role in coaching goalkeepers, recruiting coordination, and managing team logistics. His efforts contributed to Bemidji State's three NCAA Tournament appearances and their historic Central Regional Championship win in 2022. The coaching staff was recognized by the United Soccer Coaches as the Central Region Staff of the Year for two consecutive years.
Prior to his tenure at Bemidji State, Korman worked with Sport Contact USA, evaluating players across the country and guiding them through the process of playing collegiate soccer. He also served as an assistant men's soccer coach at Saint Joseph's College from 2014 to 2017. There, he developed recruiting plans both locally and internationally and oversaw strength training programs while managing team logistics.
Korman began his coaching career at Millikin University in Decatur, Illinois, in 2012. As an assistant coach for their men's program, he was involved in player recruitment and retention, goalkeeper training, game analysis, academic monitoring of athletes, and equipment management.
A former NCAA Division II goalkeeper himself at Saint Joseph's College from 2007-2012, Korman holds a degree in sport management from Saint Joseph's and is a member of United States Soccer Coaches with both a National Diploma and Goalkeeper I Diploma.
