Grand Valley State track concludes successful California meet series

The Grand Valley State track and field team concluded their week-long trip in California on Saturday, April 13th. The team participated in four meets over four days, including the Beach Invite, Bryan Clay Invitational, and Calvin Outdoor Meet.

At the Beach Invite in Long Beach, CA, Myles Kerner secured second place in the men's shot put with a throw of 19.30m. Matt Thomas followed in sixth place with an 18.01m throw. In women's shot put, Margaret Stevenson placed 18th with a distance of 14.21m.

During the Bryan Clay Invitational, Wyatt Alwine and Colton Emeott finished fifth and sixth respectively in the men's pole vault section "A", both clearing a height of 4.75m. Taylor DeHommel achieved second place in the women's pole vault section "A" with a height of 4.02m.

At the Calvin Outdoor Meet, Natalia Pluff won first place in the women's hammer throw with a distance of 46.40m. Gloria Stepanovich claimed first in long jump at 4.60m, while Abby DeOuden topped high jump at 1.55m.

On the track, Sarah May recorded two first-place finishes: one in the 800m with a personal-best time of 2:20.35 and another in the 1500m at 4:40.12.

In men's events at Calvin Outdoor Meet, Drennan Akins won first place in the men's 3000m steeplechase with a personal-best time of 9:44.26.

The Lakers' performance across these meets demonstrated strong competitive spirit and skillful execution across various disciplines.
