The Lakers concluded their final days in California after participating in the Beach Invite and Bryan Clay Invitational on Friday, April 12th.

At the Beach Invite in Long Beach, CA, Matt Thomas achieved a personal best of 62.41m in the men's hammer throw, securing 15th place overall. Shane Byrne followed closely with a distance of 61.60m, finishing in 17th place. Shelby Ulven and Alaina Omonode both placed within the Top 20 for Grand Valley, earning 17th (Ulven) and 19th (Omonode), with distances of 56.55m and 55.67m respectively.

Meanwhile, at the Bryan Clay Invitational, Jaivon Harrison and Eli Kosiba finished among the top three in the men's high jump. Harrison claimed first place by clearing a height of 2.19m, while Kosiba secured third place with a height of 2.16m. Jonathan Rankins-James earned eighth place with a clearance of 2.08m, and Caleb Taylor finished in 11th place with a new personal best height of 2.03m.

In men's discus, James MacKey JR. took second place with a throw of 51.26m, followed by Nathan Spitzley who placed seventh with a distance of 48.25m.

On the track events side, Taryn Chapko completed the women's 800m invite with a time of 2:09.75, while Scott Spaanstra recorded a time of 1:55.89 in the men's equivalent event.

Klaudia O'Malley secured first place in the women's 5000m invite (HT3) by setting a new personal best time of 15:51.30. In the men's category, Koby Fraaza finished in 19th place with a time of 14:12.72.

Looking ahead to Saturday's schedule, the Lakers will wrap up their week-long trip to California as they compete on April 13th at both the Beach Invite in Long Beach and Bryan Clay Invitational in Azusa.

The Beach Invite is set to commence at 1:00 pm (ET) featuring events like men's shot put and women's discus.

Simultaneously starting at Bryan Clay Invitational are long jump events for men and women along with women's high jump beginning at the same hour.

Additionally scheduled on Saturday is partaking by some members from Grand Valley State track & field team attending Calvin Outdoor Meet held back home located inside Grand Rapids Michigan starting around morning hours beginning precisely around eleven o'clock eastern standard timing .
