The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) softball team faced defeat in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Championship against Saginaw Valley State University on Sunday, May 5. The Lakers were defeated in two games, with scores of 7-1 and 2-1, bringing their season record to 35 wins and 16 losses.

Liberti Fair's single moved Spicer to third base, allowing Koenigshof to bring her home with a sacrifice fly to right field.

Saginaw Valley State responded in the seventh inning by tying the game with a triple to right field and subsequently taking the lead. The Cardinals limited GVSU to just one hit in their final at-bat, securing their victory.
