Grand Valley State University's softball team is set to commence its NCAA Tournament journey in Nashville, Tennessee. The Lakers will face Ohio Dominican in the Midwest Regionals on May 9 at 3:30 PM ET.

This marks GVSU's 19th overall and 13th consecutive appearance in the NCAA Tournament since 2011. The team boasts a tournament record of 68-43 and has advanced to the College World Series six times, including three appearances in the past five seasons.

The Lakers enter postseason play with a record of 35-16, having won 12 of their last 15 games. They have maintained a .292 team batting average while outscoring opponents by a significant margin this season.

Key players for GVSU include Hannah Hollister, who leads with a .374 batting average and has broken the school's single-season stolen base record with 40 steals. Kelsey Komorous has contributed significantly with a .363 average, leading the team with 55 RBIs. Morgan Spicer is also notable for her performance at bat this season.

On the pitching front, Genesis Eggart heads the staff with a 1.63 ERA over 21 appearances, while Ashley Platek follows closely with a 1.76 ERA in her outings.

Ohio Dominican enters the tournament holding a record of 34-13. During regular-season matchups between these teams, each secured one victory against the other.

ODU brings considerable speed to their game, demonstrated by their successful base-stealing statistics throughout this season. Leading players include Alli Madden and Alexis Stevens who have shown consistent offensive contributions.

The Panthers' pitching staff maintains a collective ERA of 2.24, led by Grace Hammer's impressive individual stats over multiple appearances.
