Grand Valley State women’s tennis advances after defeating Findlay in NCAA Tournament

The Grand Valley State women's tennis team secured a narrow victory over Findlay with a 4-3 score in the NCAA Tournament, enhancing their season record to 14-9. The match took place in Indianapolis.

The Lakers clinched the doubles point by winning two out of three matches. Taylor Barrett and Neus Ramos achieved a 7-5 win at the No. 1 doubles position, while Vale Mozas and Estefania Hernandez mirrored that score at No. 3 doubles. However, Vasileia Griva and Rachel Sam were defeated 2-6 at No. 2 doubles.

In singles competition, Anna Soteras emerged victorious with a hard-fought 7-5, 3-6, 6-2 win at No. 3 singles. Neus Ramos also contributed with a straight-set victory of 6-4, 6-4 at No. 4 singles. Vale Mozas added another point for the Lakers by overcoming her opponent in three sets with scores of 3-6, 7-5, and 6-2 at No. 6 singles.

On the other hand, Vasileia Griva faced defeat with scores of 3-6, 3-6 at the top singles position. Taylor Barrett lost her match after three sets with scores of 1-6, 6-3, and 2-6 at No. 2 singles, while Rachel Sam was defeated with scores of 6-7 and 3-6 at No.5 singles.

With this win, the Lakers will advance to face Indianapolis tomorrow in Indianapolis, Indiana. The match is scheduled to start at 11:00 AM.
