The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) men's basketball team secured a narrow victory against Lake Superior State, ranked ninth, with a final score of 71-68. The game took place on Thursday night in Allendale. This win improves GVSU's season record to 11-10 and their conference record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) to 7-6.

Kaden Brown led the scoring for GVSU with 25 points, including four three-pointers and three rebounds. William Dunn also contributed significantly by scoring 12 points and securing six rebounds. Shamus Thompson achieved a career-high with 13 rebounds and matched his personal best with four blocks. Trevor Smith Jr. added seven points and provided three assists.

Throughout the game, GVSU shot 37% from the field while Lake Superior State managed a slightly lower percentage at 35.8%. From beyond the arc, GVSU hit 20% of their shots compared to Lake Superior State's 18.5%. GVSU dominated in rebounding statistics, especially offensive rebounds where they outperformed Lake Superior State by a margin of six.

The match saw multiple lead changes and ties early on, with both teams struggling offensively initially. However, GVSU closed the first half strong with a run that gave them a six-point lead at halftime.

In the second half, after pushing their lead to double digits briefly, GVSU faced resistance as Lake Superior State responded with their own scoring runs. Both teams continued exchanging leads until the final moments of the game when William Dunn's decisive play put GVSU ahead for good.
