The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) men's basketball team secured a narrow victory against Lake Superior State, ranked ninth, with a final score of 71-68. The game took place on Thursday night in Allendale. This win improves GVSU's season record to 11-10 and their conference record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) to 7-6.
Kaden Brown led the scoring for GVSU with 25 points, including four three-pointers and three rebounds. William Dunn also contributed significantly by scoring 12 points and securing six rebounds. Shamus Thompson achieved a career-high with 13 rebounds and matched his personal best with four blocks. Trevor Smith Jr. added seven points and provided three assists.
Throughout the game, GVSU shot 37% from the field while Lake Superior State managed a slightly lower percentage at 35.8%. From beyond the arc, GVSU hit 20% of their shots compared to Lake Superior State's 18.5%. GVSU dominated in rebounding statistics, especially offensive rebounds where they outperformed Lake Superior State by a margin of six.
