The Grand Valley State men's basketball team has achieved a notable sweep of the GLIAC player of the week honors following their victories in two Top 25 games over the weekend. Kaden Brown was recognized as the offensive player of the week, while Shamus Thompson received defensive player of the week accolades.
Brown played a pivotal role in securing a 71-68 victory against #9 Lake Superior State by scoring a game-high 25 points, including four three-pointers. He continued his strong performance with 15 points and two three-pointers during GVSU's dominant 94-62 win over #16 Ferris State. Brown has consistently scored in double digits for three consecutive games and currently leads GVSU with an average of 13.5 points per game.
On the defensive side, Thompson set a career high with 13 rebounds, eight of which were offensive, contributing to GVSU's win against Lake Superior State. He also matched his career best with four blocks in that game. In the subsequent match against Ferris State, Thompson led with eight rebounds and added one block and one steal to help secure another victory for GVSU.
