Grand Valley State faces Northern Michigan in GLIAC quarterfinals

The Grand Valley State men's basketball team is preparing for their upcoming match in the GLIAC Tournament quarterfinals. They will face Northern Michigan on Wednesday night in Marquette, Michigan. The game is scheduled to begin at 7:30 PM.

GVSU completed their regular season ranked fifth in the GLIAC standings with a conference record of 12-8 and an overall record of 16-12. Their last game saw them achieve a decisive victory over Roosevelt, finishing 106-51. William Dunn led this effort with a career-high double-double, scoring 28 points and securing 12 rebounds. As they enter the postseason, the Lakers have won ten of their last fourteen games and are on a three-game winning streak.

This season, Northern Michigan has won both previous encounters against GVSU. Historically, GVSU leads their GLIAC tournament series against Northern Michigan 4-1. The most recent meeting occurred last season during the semifinals when GVSU defeated Northern Michigan with a score of 92-77 in Marquette.

Northern Michigan ended their regular season fourth in the GLIAC standings, boasting a conference record of 13-7 and an overall record of 19-9. Like GVSU, they also approach this matchup on a three-game winning streak, having won seven out of their last ten games. The Wildcats average 74 points per game with a field goal percentage of 44%. Dylan Kuehl is Northern Michigan's leading scorer, averaging 16.6 points and contributing approximately seven rebounds per game.
