The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) women's basketball team secured a spot in the NCAA Tournament Regional Semifinals after a decisive victory over Quincy. The Lakers scored 63 points in the first half, ultimately defeating Quincy 108-72. They are set to face Wayne State next.

The game began with GVSU taking an early lead, starting on a 10-0 run with contributions from Rylie Bisballe and Nicole Kamin. The team maintained their momentum as Molly Anderson's three-pointer initiated a 14-3 run, ending the first quarter at 35-14 in favor of GVSU.

In the second quarter, both teams exchanged baskets initially until Rylie Bisballe's layup sparked a 16-0 run for GVSU. Ellie Droste contributed two consecutive three-pointers during this stretch, increasing the lead to 55-20. By halftime, GVSU led by 32 points with a score of 63-31.

The Lakers continued their dominance into the second half with a 9-4 run highlighted by Kathryn Schmidt's three-pointer. A further increase in their lead was marked by Paige Vanstee's three-pointer, bringing the score to 84-42. Although Quincy closed the third quarter on a strong note with a 13-2 run, GVSU remained ahead at 86-55 going into the final quarter.

Grand Valley State reached triple digits for the seventh time this season following Sydney Cherney's layup. Additional scoring came from Paige Vanstee and Lexi Plitzuweit who helped close out the game.

Five players from GVSU scored in double figures: Rylie Bisballe led with 17 points along with seven rebounds and four assists; Nicole Kamin added another strong performance with 15 points and seven rebounds; MacKenzie Bisballe contributed 14 points; Ellie Droste and Paige Vanstee each had eleven points; Lexi Plitzuweit ended with eight points and six assists while Avery Zeinstra recorded eight points alongside six steals. The team forced Quincy into committing twenty-five turnovers while shooting an impressive sixty-point-three percent from field goals.

Looking ahead, "In the Regional Semifinals tomorrow at 7:00," said sources familiar with tournament scheduling details, "the Lakers will take on Wayne State."
