Grand Valley State University's track and field teams are gearing up for an extensive road trip involving competitions spread over four separate events in Texas, North Carolina, and Missouri. Over 100 Laker athletes will participate in the Bobcat Invitational, the Texas Relays, the WashU Distance Carnival, and the Raleigh Relays.
The Bobcat Invitational at Texas State University will witness the involvement of most GVSU athletes, competing in a variety of events. Mason Floria will participate in the men's decathlon, while other athletes will compete in events such as discus, pole vault, and the 100m.
At the Texas Relays in Austin, 31 Grand Valley athletes will partake in 17 events. Junior Shelby Ulven and Freshman Michael Griffey will compete in hammer throw, while the team will also show presence in the 400m hurdles.
The WashU Distance Carnival in St. Louis will feature 17 GVSU athletes, with events kicking off Thursday evening. The Laker athletes will compete in the 3000m steeplechase and the men's 5000m.
In Raleigh, at the Raleigh Relays hosted by NC State, 23 athletes will compete, focusing mainly on distance events like the men's 1500m and the 10000m.
