The Grand Valley State softball team will hit the road this weekend for a pair of doubleheaders in their conference schedule. Changes have been made to the schedule due to expected rain.
The games against Davenport on Saturday have been rescheduled to start earlier at 11:00 AM. Sunday's doubleheader at Ferris State will now take place next Tuesday, April 1, in Big Rapids, with the first pitch set for 2:30 PM.
Grand Valley State, currently holding a 13-15 record overall and a 4-2 standing in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), recently swept a doubleheader against Purdue Northwest in their home opener. They won the first game 12-0 in a shortened five innings and secured the second game 8-2. Madelynn Pope played a notable role by hitting her first collegiate home run and accumulating four hits in the series. Pope is leading the Lakers with a .370 batting average, as well as 30 hits and seven triples.
Davenport holds a 13-13 record and shares a 4-2 record in the GLIAC with the Lakers. Earlier this week, they defeated Ferris State in a doubleheader, claimed the opener 6-4 with a walk-off homer, and won the second game 7-5. Ferris State stands at 12-8 overall and 1-3 within the GLIAC. They will face Purdue Northwest before hosting the rescheduled games against GVSU on Tuesday.
