Day two of the 2025 GLIAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships in Allendale, Michigan, concluded with significant achievements from Grand Valley State University (GVSU) athletes. Despite the rainy conditions, several athletes secured notable results across various events, with sixteen podium finishes, and nine individuals earning conference champion titles.
Mason Floria excelled in the men's decathlon, starting the day with the 110m hurdles and continuing to lead in discus, pole vault, and javelin. Floria capped off the day with a personal-best score of 6,146 points, the second-highest in GVSU's history.
In field events, Michael Griffey triumphed in the men's hammer throw, achieving a personal best and ranking fourth in NCAA Division II. On the long jump podium, Luke Jelderks and Caleb Taylor emerged as prominent performers, with Jelderks tying for 10th place in Division II.
The men's pole vault showcased successes by Dolan Gonzales, who secured a personal best, and Colton Emeott and Camryn Battjes, who tied for second and fifth respectively.
Nearly all GVSU athletes progressed to the finals in their preliminary running events. Notable performances included Destini Dorkins's personal-best in the 100m hurdles and Trannon Aylor's season-best in the 400m.
The women's hammer throw was dominated by GVSU competitors, with Shelby Ulven leading the podium. In men's high jump, Braden Prielipp and Caleb Taylor added significantly to the team score. Will Gaston secured first in javelin, contributing 10 points to the team's tally.
Alaina Diaz made headlines with a record-breaking long jump, earning her top place in NCAA Division II. In women's steeplechase, Maria Mitchell took gold, while Owen Westerkamp and Drennan Akins swept the men's podium in the same event.
The day concluded with notable results in the 10,000m run, where Madison Ebright, Brock Wooderson, and Dan Lambert placed second, fifth, and seventh respectively.
