Grand Valley State men's tennis sweeps all doubles titles at ITA Midwest Regionals

The Grand Valley State University men's tennis team secured all three doubles championships at the ITA Midwest Regional Championship, marking a consecutive year of dominance in doubles play for the Lakers.

Patricio Sepulveda and Bora Bakici won the top doubles draw championship, finishing with a 5-0 record over three days. The duo clinched their final match with a score of 6-3, 6-4. As a result, Sepulveda and Bakici have qualified for the ITA Cup in Rome, Georgia, which begins on October 16.

Jorge Ruiz and Andreu Martin also posted an undefeated 5-0 record to capture the doubles B draw title, winning their championship match 8-4. Completing the sweep for Grand Valley State, Axel Le Ho and Jose Pablos Mozas Pavon went unbeaten to win the doubles C draw championship with an 8-3 victory in their final match. Stephen Claassen and Lawrence Ivanov advanced to the semifinals in the top doubles draw after going 4-1.

In singles competition, Denys Zamaraiev achieved a 4-1 record for the week and reached the semifinals of the top singles draw. Axel Le Ho matched this performance in the singles B draw by advancing to its semifinals with a similar record. Andreu Martin made it to the quarterfinals of that bracket with a 3-1 showing.

Grand Valley State’s performance at this regional event continues its strong presence in collegiate tennis tournaments.
