Bill Huizenga comments on FDIC leadership and Muskegon Lake restoration

Rep. Bill Huizenga, a U.S. Congressman representing Michigan’s 4th district since 2011, recently posted several updates on his social media account, covering topics from healthcare policy to environmental achievements and regulatory leadership.

On October 2, 2025, Huizenga commented on past Democratic proposals regarding healthcare for undocumented immigrants: " ope …. Every Democrat raised their hand stating their government healthcare proposal would provide insurance for people illegally in the United States …. And this was in 2019!"

The following day, October 3, he congratulated Travis Hill on his nomination to lead the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), stating: "Congratulations to Travis Hill on his nomination to officially lead @FDICGov. Travis has the experience, respect, and thoughtfulness to rebuild trust and restore credibility to this regulatory agency."

Later that same day, Huizenga highlighted an environmental milestone involving Muskegon Lake: "The delisting of Muskegon Lake as an Area of Concern is a great bipartisan win for Muskegon, the Lakeshore, and the entire Great Lakes region. I am proud to have championed funding for the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative which played a critical role in the recovery of"

Bill Huizenga has represented Michigan’s 4th District in Congress since replacing Pete Hoekstra in 2011. Before serving at the federal level, he was a member of the Michigan House of Representatives from 2003 to 2009. Born in Zeeland in 1969 and currently residing in Holland, Huizenga graduated from Calvin College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1991.
