Sophomore Natasha Sengphrachanh made history on Sunday by winning the Division II women's tennis singles ITA Cup Championship in Rome, Georgia. She is the first player in her program to achieve this title. The ITA Cup Championship brings together top singles and doubles players from across the country.
Sengphrachanh secured her championship with a 1-6, 6-3, 6-0 victory in the final match. Over the weekend, she finished with a perfect 4-0 record in singles play, dropping only two sets. Sengphrachanh has remained undefeated this fall season, now holding a 10-0 record after also winning the ITA Midwest Regional Championship earlier in the year.
The event also saw participation from GVSU’s men’s team. Bora Bakici and Patricio Sepulveda competed in doubles, reaching the quarterfinals following a close three-set win in their opening match. This year marked the first time that GVSU had representation from both its women’s and men’s teams at the ITA Cup.
