State Representative Rachelle Smit of Michigan is demanding answers from Attorney General Dana Nessel and FBI Director Christopher Wray regarding the lack of prosecution of individuals associated with GBI Strategies, who submitted thousands of clearly fraudulent voter registration applications in Muskegon County in October 2020. Rep. Smit believes that the inaction of these law enforcement officers indicates a cover-up of systemic voter fraud in the 2020 election.
"These false registrations were being put into the voter file so that someone could falsify absentee ballots," said Rep. Smit, who is also the Vice Chair of the Michigan House Elections Committee. "I have been trying to get a response from Attorney General Nessel and FBI Director Wray for months, but all I have received is silence. Their inaction in the face of thousands of fraudulent voter registration applications suggests that they are protecting a criminal enterprise."
Rep. Smit and her colleague, Rep. DeBoyer, who is also a former clerk, have sent a letter to Attorney General Nessel and FBI Director Wray, urging them to address these concerns. Rep. DeBoyer emphasized the importance of a legitimate investigation, stating, "If what happened in Muskegon had occurred under my watch, I would not have stopped until a proper investigation was underway."
The representatives are troubled by the potential collusion between politicians and individuals involved in voter fraud. "When politicians like Whitmer, Nessel, Wray, and Biden align themselves with criminals to secure their election, it raises serious concerns," said Rep. Smit. She further criticized the Democrats for their lack of action in protecting election integrity, suggesting that they are unwilling to address the issue of voter fraud.
Michigan, with a reported 8,262,914 registered voters, allows for same-day registration at the polls and online voter registration. Approximately 77% of Michigan residents are registered to vote.
Rep. Smit represents House District 43, which includes parts of Allegan, Ottawa, Barry, and Eaton counties. She has extensive experience as a township clerk managing elections. Rep. DeBoyer represents House District 63 and serves on the House Elections Committee. He previously worked as a county clerk for 12 years.
The call for accountability from Rep. Smit highlights the need for transparency and action in addressing voter fraud allegations. The silence from Attorney General Nessel and FBI Director Wray is concerning, as it raises questions about the integrity of the 2020 election and the potential cover-up of voter fraud.
