Grand Valley State narrowly loses to Davenport in baseball game

Grand Valley State University's baseball team suffered a narrow 8-7 loss against Davenport University during the third game of their series. The closely contested match took place with GVSU's record standing at 20-7 while Davenport's record was at 20-6. The final game of the series is scheduled for Sunday at noon.

Davenport University initially held an early lead. However, the Lakers responded by scoring single runs in the sixth and seventh innings and added a two-run effort in the eighth inning to edge past with a 7-5 lead. The outcome changed in the bottom of the ninth inning as Davenport scored three unearned runs to claim victory.

In terms of individual performances, Grand Valley State's catcher Nick Krstich went 2-for-3, contributing three RBI and scoring once. First baseman Jovan Gill was 2-for-5, driving in two runs. Despite going hitless, left fielder Ryan Dykstra managed two RBI. Second baseman Ayden VanEnkevort was 3-for-5 with a run, catcher Brendan Guciardo was 2-for-4 also scoring a run, and shortstop Evan Morrison recorded 2-for-4 with two runs scored.
