Cooling shelters open in Holland for upcoming heatwave

Beginning at noon on Saturday, June 21, Gateway Mission will open emergency cooling centers in response to the anticipated heatwave. The Gateway Men's Center and the Gateway Women and Children's Center will be accessible for unsheltered families and individuals. These centers will operate during the day until Monday, June 23.

Gateway Mission is providing these facilities from 8 AM to 8 PM, starting at noon on June 21. Those requiring overnight emergency shelter are also encouraged to check in and stay at Gateway Mission due to the hazardous conditions.

Starting Wednesday, June 18, Refresh will be available during normal business hours for community members needing a place to cool down. Refresh is located at First United Methodist Church, 57 W. 10th Street, Holland, MI 49423.
