On June 25, 2025, at approximately 1:48 a.m., firefighters from Holland were dispatched to a residence in the 200 block of West 32nd Street following reports of smoke. While en route, dispatch informed them that flames were visible from a second-story window. Fire crews arrived on the scene at 1:54 a.m. and confirmed smoke and flames emanating from the window.

The firefighters quickly conducted an interior attack and initial search, successfully bringing the fire under control to prevent further escalation. No residents were injured in the incident; however, the family residing there has been displaced.

During their search efforts, four cats and one dog were found and safely rescued from the affected unit. The quick containment of the fire prevented any additional damage to surrounding structures.

The Holland Fire Department advises everyone to plug air conditioning units directly into outlets instead of using extension cords or plug strips as warm weather continues. Smoke detectors are credited with early detection of this fire.

There were no reported injuries among civilians or first responders. The department extends its appreciation to all crews involved for their effective and timely response, which minimized damage to all properties affected.
