Grand Valley State swimmers earn repeat GLIAC weekly honors

The Grand Valley State University (GVSU) swim and dive team has secured both the men's and women's Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) Athlete of the Week awards for the second time this season, according to an announcement by the conference.

Lucy Hedley was named GLIAC Women's Swimmer of the Week after her performance against the University of Indianapolis. Hedley finished first in three events: 200-yard freestyle (1:51.38), 50-yard freestyle (23.58), and 100-yard freestyle (51.10). She also contributed to a first-place finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay with a time of 3:29.03.

Evan Scotto DiVetta received the Men's Swimmer of the Week honor, also for a second time this season. He participated in a 200-yard medley relay that placed second with a time of 1:31.12, won both the 50-yard freestyle (20.45) and 100-yard freestyle (44.99), and anchored a comeback victory in the 400-yard freestyle relay, finishing at 3:01.57.

On the diving side, Emi Goto was recognized as Women's Diver of the Week after taking first place in the 1-meter dive with a score of 262.80 and placing second in the 3-meter dive with a score of 250.28.

Carter Wood earned Men's Diver of the Week honors for his results on both boards, winning first place in the 1-meter event with a score of 313.43 and coming second on the 3-meter board with a score of 296.03.

The GVSU Lakers are scheduled to compete again at the Winter Invite from December 4 at Venema Aquatic Center, which will be held over three days.

"Lucy Hedley has been named the GLIAC Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season," stated GVSU Athletics. "She previously earned the honor in Week 2 for her outstanding performance."

"Evan Scotto DiVetta has also been named the GLIAC Swimmer of the Week for the second time this season," according to GVSU Athletics.

"Emi Goto was named GLIAC Diver of the Week for the second time in her career after placing first in the 1-meter dive," said GVSU Athletics.

"Carter Wood earned GLIAC Diver of the Week honors for his results on both boards," added GVSU Athletics.
