Fourteen athletes from Grand Valley State University are set to compete in the 2025 NCAA Division II Midwest Region Cross Country Championships this weekend. The event, hosted by the University of Wisconsin – Parkside, will be held at the Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country Course in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The women’s 6k race is scheduled for 10 a.m. CST, followed by the men’s 10k at 11:15 a.m.

Grand Valley State aims to extend its record streaks with a potential 24th women’s and 23rd men’s team regional titles. Both teams have won consecutive titles since 2001 for the women and 2002 for the men, marking them as dominant programs within NCAA cross country.

The Lakers enter the championships ranked first in the NCAA DII Midwest Region. The women’s team recently secured a perfect score at the GLIAC Cross Country Championships and is currently ranked second nationally, receiving three first-place votes and totaling 235 points—just behind Colorado School of Mines with five first-place votes and 237 points. The men’s team leads Saginaw Valley State and Lewis in regional rankings after earning nearly perfect results at their conference meet. They hold fourth place nationally with 219 points, following Wingate (237), Adams State (233), and Colorado School of Mines (223).

The roster includes seven women, seven men, and three alternates for each squad. Lauren Kiley, who holds both regional and national champion titles from last year, is expected to lead the women after winning her recent conference race in 20:18.2. Abigail VanderKooi and Allie Arnsman are also expected to perform well after posting personal bests at the conference championships.

For the men’s team, Koby Fraaza—winner of this year’s GLIAC Men’s Cross Country Championship—will look to build on his third-place finish at last year’s regionals. Conor Somers and Báhozhóni Church are among other top contenders for podium spots.

Live results will be available through Wisconsin Running Systems during the event. Fans interested in attending can purchase tickets ahead of time online or buy them on site using cash or card.

Updates throughout race day will be shared on GVSU cross country social media accounts, with a full recap posted on gvsulakers.com once events conclude.
