The Grand Valley State University women's soccer team secured a 2-1 victory over Saginaw Valley State on Saturday, closing their regular season with a record of 16 wins and 2 losses, including a 12-1 mark in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC).

Grand Valley State took an early lead in the seventh minute when Sarah Fromm scored her eighth goal of the season. Alli French and Sonya Mehta assisted on the play, with Mehta passing to French, who set up Fromm for a shot from outside the box that struck the top right of the crossbar before going in.

Fromm extended the lead just four minutes later with her second goal of the match and ninth of the season. Kendall Aikens intercepted a pass from a Saginaw Valley State defender and delivered it to Fromm in front of goal, who finished past the goalkeeper in the 11th minute.

Saginaw Valley State responded in the 38th minute by scoring off a set piece to narrow Grand Valley's lead to one. Both teams failed to score during the second half. Each side registered seven shots after halftime. The Lakers outshot Saginaw Valley State overall by 15-10 and held an 8-5 advantage in shots on target. Corner kicks were even at five each.

Goalkeeper Macie Hunter made four saves for Grand Valley, recording her 13th win this season. Fromm led all players with two goals—her fourth game-winning goal this year—on five total shots, three of which were on target. Amanda Palmer added three shots for Grand Valley, including one on frame. Five Lakers played all 90 minutes, marking their highest total for full-game participation this season.

Grand Valley State will open postseason play at home against Roosevelt University on Tuesday, November 11 at 4:00 p.m., with live streaming available via FloCollege.
